Shen Yun Reviews: Former Chinese State Journalist: ‘Shen Yun passes on divinely inspired Chinese culture’

VANCOUVER, Canada— Mr. Mingwei Qiu, the former deputy director of the People’s Forum, part of the China’s state-controlled newspaper, the People’s Daily, attended Shen Yun Performing Arts at Queen Elizabeth Theatre, Feb. 4th.

“The show passes on divinely inspired Chinese culture,” Mr. Qiu concluded.

“The Shen Yun performance is great,” he said, “I can see that the Shen Yun dancers have undergone arduous training. They really embody [the Chinese proverb] ‘One minute onstage, ten years of practice offstage.’ Their performance was extremely successful.”

About the dance drama depicting a chapter from the Chinese classic Journey to the West, Mr. Qiu said, “In just a short dance, it gave the audience a glimpse of our God-given Chinese culture.”

He also expressed appreciation for In the Mountains, an ethnic dance from Taiwan’s indigenous Amei people: “This dance gave us a sense of their carefree and hopeful character. They seemed so natural, gentle and pure.”

Of Crazy Ji Saves the Day, Mr. Qiu said, “Ji Gong’s story is one that we always heard growing up. Seeing this program made me very nostalgic. This dance was also humorous and witty, a true accomplishment.”
